Operating projects · EIA-860M
September 2026 inventory, released October 23. Only the exact OP / Operating status is included, including operating nuclear and pumped-storage hydro resources. Closed nuclear sites are excluded. One map record groups generators by EIA Plant ID and technology; hybrid solar and battery resources remain separate. These are nameplate MW, not actual output. Storage MWh is shown separately where reported.
EIA generally surveys plants with at least 1 MW of combined nameplate capacity. The map is not a complete register of rooftop or smaller distributed installations. Plant coordinates are EIA’s representative locations, including for offshore resources; markers are not turbine locations, lease boundaries, or confirmed grid connection points.

Points of interconnection · ISO-NE
Public POI layer from ISO-NE’s Transitional Cluster / Post TCS Case – Aug2026 heatmap. Source layer updated October 1, 2026; retrieved October 26. These points are transmission-system interconnection candidates, not operating generators or proposed project approvals.
The colored overlay is rendered from the official ISO numeric GeoTIFF for all four voltage bands (≤69, 69–115, 115–230 and 345 kV), at its native 750-metre cell size. Its TSK presentation scale follows red for lower and green/blue for higher values. The shading is clipped to land in the six New England states, including islands, using MassGIS coastal municipal polygons for Massachusetts and Census cartographic coastal boundaries for Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Offshore waters and areas outside New England are not shaded. This display mask does not alter the source values or POI samples. Unshaded areas outside New England land are outside the display mask; transparent cells within it mean no source data, not zero capacity. POI details show the raster cell at that coordinate, rounded to 0.1 MW; that is an approximate display-cell sample, not the exact voltage-specific POI analysis result. Use the official tool for that result.
The official heatmap estimates incremental injection capability for a selected scenario under an N-1 screen. Capacity values are not added across POIs. TSK plots source POI locations and the source raster; use the official ISO tool for capacity estimates, voltage filters, constraints and injection analysis. No connection between a nearby EIA plant and an ISO POI is inferred.

NECEC · Massachusetts Section 83D
The New England Clean Energy Connect 100% Hydro project was selected under Massachusetts Section 83D. The Maine line layer retains the published Maine DEP-derived centerline (December 30, 2020 revision; layer modified June 2, 2021). Solid lines show the core corridor, Segments 1–3; dashed lines show ancillary AC/rebuild work. This is permitting-era route geometry, not a current as-built survey or a real-time power-flow indicator. The capacity summary includes 1,200 MW of NECEC import capability as a separate Massachusetts Section 83D resource. It is not treated as a Maine generator or real-time output.

Vineyard Wind 1 export cables · BOEM-derived GIS
Eight marine segments marked Installed in the Northeast Ocean Data Portal’s BOEM-derived export-cable layer trace the two 220 kV cables to Covell’s Beach, Barnstable. Source vertices are generalized within 0.00005 degrees for display. The source Land feature duplicates an offshore segment and is excluded; the project’s onshore route documents are linked from cable details. No invented upland connection is drawn. This route adds no MW: Vineyard Wind 1 is already represented in the offshore operating layer.

Vineyard Wind 1 primary layout & ESP
At closer zoom levels, 62 primary turbine positions and the offshore electrical service platform (ESP) appear. The BOEM-derived regional source retains 57 Proposed and 5 Installed turbine flags; these are source-edition attributes, not a current turbine availability tally. Eight spare locations and ten New England Wind records are excluded. The offshore ESP is marked Installed. Exact source coordinates and identifiers appear on selection. Layout symbols do not add capacity or project counts.

Current queue · ISO-NE
Queue activity as of September 21, 2026, the snapshot supplied by the linked ISO map. Queue markers show active requests that are not yet commercial. Requested MW and commercial dates are not operating capacity or construction commitments. Queue records retain their source IDs and are never merged with EIA projects based on proximity.
Queue fuel type, service and dates appear when a request is selected. No inferred resource classifications or commercial dates are substituted for missing fields. The ISO queue may be more current than this map snapshot.
New England municipal boundaries · MassGIS + Census
Massachusetts retains all 351 official city and town polygons from the MassGIS-hosted Massachusetts Municipalities service. Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont use the Census Bureau’s 2025 county-subdivision boundaries: cities, towns, and applicable unorganized territories, grants and gores. These are reference areas, not all incorporated municipalities. Boundaries can be toggled, and town/city names appear at closer zoom levels. Lines are generalized for display. These reference boundaries are not a parcel survey or a siting approval.

Geography & counts
Default scope is Massachusetts; New England includes MA, CT, RI, VT, NH and ME. The operating-project scope follows EIA plant state. Offshore sites connected to ISO-NE retain their source plant assignment. The region excludes NYISO projects. POI states are determined from Census state boundaries where available; source coordinates near borders may fall outside the polygons. Counts refer to plant/resource groups or source POI records, not unique project owners. A cluster groups nearby points for display; zoom or use the list to inspect each record.
State outlines: U.S. Census Bureau, 2025 cartographic boundaries, 1:500,000. No browser location tracking or external basemap is required. Data is a dated snapshot; market-panel refreshes do not imply a new EIA inventory or ISO scenario.
